This summer, the energy produced by rooftop solar panels has increased by twenty percent, currently accounting for sixteen per cent of Australia’s overall electricity supply. According to new data released by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the spike is driven by new installations and favorable weather conditions. The overall production generated nationwide from early December until the end of February this year reached 10,592 GWh, which is higher than the 8,852 GWh recorded during last summer and the 8,102 GWh seen in 2022/2023. Throughout the nation, New South Wales took the lead with a 25.4 percent increase in rooftop solar energy production, trailed by Victoria with a 23.1 percent rise and South Australia with a 22.5 percent boost.
