This year's 80th VE Day is 'more than just a celebration,' Starmer stated, 'it is a time for national rejuvenation.'

The leader of Reform UK stated that the UK has "for a long time been among the most accommodating nations globally — welcoming individuals who genuinely require assistance."
He went on: "We have welcomed Protestants from France, Jews who fled Russia, Asians forced out of Uganda, numerous refugees during World War II, and more recently, Ukrainians seeking refuge from the assaults at home."

Davey said: ‘Amidst the rubble of war, in the shadow of the Holocaust, and with the looming spectre of nuclear weapons, British leadership offered real hope for the world.
'Even with all the difficulties that ensued — all the tests and troubles of the last eighty years — there is no question that the world has benefited from it, thanks to British leadership.'
Carla Denyer, who shares leadership of the Green Party with Adrian Ramsay, penned an article emphasizing the significance of understanding 'never again' following the war and the Holocaust.
She stated: "Nowadays, administrations worldwide are curbing the liberties of their populace, aggressively expanding their territories, and capitalizing on societal rifts to strengthen their control."
Referencing clampdowns in Hungary, Russia, and the United States, Denyer stated: “The phrase 'never again' carries an obligation for us to stay vigilant about what’s occurring globally.”
Throughout the UK, events were organized this week to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day occurring today.
On Monday, a military parade along with an aerial display occurred in downtown London. Meanwhile, a memorial service at Westminster Abbey coupled with a festive concert will conclude the nation’s commemorative events today.
