Trump Mocks 2028 Rival Pete Buttigieg for Cycling Stunt with Husband

Donald Trump has teased ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for cycling with his husband seated behind him.

The president criticized Buttigieg as he attempted to divert attention from the air traffic turmoil affecting Newark International Airport, which was caused by technical problems.

When questioned about his investigation into new software, Trump asserted that he was "fully prepared to unveil a completely new air traffic control system" once he left office and Buttigieg assumed leadership of the Department of Transportation.

'Buttigieg, who isn’t familiar with the situation, rides his bike to work every day, quite fairly, with his husband on the back, showcasing a lovely partnership,' the president quipped.

This fellow had absolutely no idea, even though he’s seriously running for president. You could choose either him or Crockett; neither option seems appealing. Clearly, he wasn’t aware of what he was supposed to do.

Buttigieg is apparently considering a bid for the presidency in 2028. This might place him directly at odds with the president, who has indicated a wish to attempt securing an unconstitutional third term.

He is passionate about cycling and often rode his bike to and from work in Washington DC whilst serving in office.

Buttigieg has been seen riding bicycles obtained from rental services like Lime and Bike Share, and he also once participated in an Ironman competition.

It is unclear whether husband Chasten Buttigieg ever joins him on the rides.

Following his criticism of the Biden administration, Trump made these comments. The issues in Newark have caused numerous flight disruptions over recent weeks.

'The air traffic issues stem from the ineptitude of the Biden Administration, led by an inexperienced and politically motivated individual, Pete B,' he posted on Truth Social. 'I WILL SET THIS RIGHT!!!'

Currently, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is having difficulty gaining control over the circumstances.

On Thursday, though, his department suggested significant reforms for the U.S. air traffic control system following recent fatal aviation accidents and technological glitches that highlighted the obsolete infrastructure.

The proposal includes establishing six additional air traffic control hubs, as well as enhancing technological and communication systems across every one of the country’s air traffic installations within the upcoming three-year period, stated Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

Deterioration over many years has resulted in a dated framework that is struggling to keep up," Duffy stated in his pre-prepared comments. "Constructing this updated system is crucial for our economy and national safety, and we must address it immediately.

The Trump administration aims to incorporate fiber, wireless, and satellite technologies at over 4,600 sites, replace approximately 600 radars, and expand the count of airports equipped with systems aimed at decreasing close calls on runways.

Under this proposal, six additional air traffic control hubs would be constructed, along with standardizing new equipment and technology across every air traffic facility.

The schedule for the project is quite ambitious, aiming to complete all tasks by 2028. Cost estimates have not yet been disclosed at this point.
