Lindblad Expeditions Sets Sail on European River Cruises

Lindblad Expeditions is introducing its exploratory travel style with cruises To European rivers for the initial visit.

The expedition cruise brand already transports passengers through the Peruvian Amazon, the Nile in Egypt , and the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the region United States , but is now creating tailored travel plans for Europe .

The sailings will be offered via the National Geographic-Lindblar Expedition collaboration with the charter cruise line Transcend Cruises, under an agreement set to last until at least 2028.

The specifics about the inaugural European river cruise season for National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions as well as details regarding the chartered ship will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks.

Every journey will include expedition leaders, informative field staff, and at least one National Geographic expert.

The specialists will lead guests through personalized tours, premium tastings, and bespoke outings.

Natalya Leahy, chief executive of Lindblad Expeditions, said: “We know that ‘how you see it’ matters, and that’s why we’ve curated these river voyages with the same depth, care and expertise that define all of our expeditions.

“With National Geographic naturalists and historians, and exclusive events woven into each journey, our guests will explore Europe’s storied rivers in truly meaningful ways. We’re equally excited to partner with Transcend Cruises to introduce a brand-new ship, custom-designed to deliver the elevated, personalised experience our guests expect from us.”

River cruising is one of the fasted growing areas of the market, according to industry body the Cruise Lines International Association, and cruise brands are responding with new sailings and ships.

Avalon Waterways Introduced a fresh Bordeaux route in March to meet passenger interest in discovering the area.

Viking Cruises received its newest river cruise vessel recently, Viking Nerthus, Earlier this year, they also ordered an additional 25 river vessels with deliveries scheduled until 2028. Once these new additions join their fleet, the total number of ships navigating rivers across locations such as Europe and Egypt will rise to 109.

Celebrity Cruises Also revealed earlier this year was an order for 10 vessels set to be launched. Celebrity River Cruises , which will set sail in Europe from 2027.
