EBR Systems Seeks Reimbursement for Cardiac Device Use in Outpatient Care

Special Report: EBR Systems has submitted an application to the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) seeking inclusion of the WISE CRT System under the Transitional Pass-Through (TPP) reimbursement program for outpatient procedures.

EBR Systems (ASX:EBR) believes its outpatient submission will be favorably received by the CMS, since the organization has previously endorsed EBR’s WISE CRT System for reimbursement through the New Technology Add-on Payment program for inpatients.

Since both applications meet the same requirements, the company believes they will be accepted into both programs, starting October 1, 2025, assuming approval.

The TPT reimbursement initiative aims to support hospitals in adopting innovative medical technologies—particularly those offering significant benefits to patients—that aren’t adequately covered under typical Medicare payment schedules.



The WISE CRT System

EBR’s WISE CRT System stands as the globe's sole wireless endocardial (implaced inside the heart) pacing solution currently utilized clinically for activating the heart’s left ventricle.

Stimulating the left ventricle internally is considered a possibly better and more anatomically accurate approach for pacing, which has long been an objective for businesses focused on cardiac pacing technology.

The cardiac device is approximately the size of a big grain of rice and may have removed the requirement for a pacing wire on the exterior of the heart’s left ventricle as well as the associated issues stemming from an external wire.
