AutoRIF is an enhanced iteration of a software originally developed for a Pentagon initiative several decades ago; however, it hasn’t seen much use recently. Multiple sources confirmed to Reuters that following guidance from Musk and DOGE Officials and software developers at OPM have recently developed a more user-friendly web-based version over the last several months.

The new version offers targets for job cuts much faster than the current manual process, which is labor-intensive, the sources said.
