Developed by scientists from Beihang University, Peking University, and other research bodies, this patch aims to administer medications directly to organs, sidestepping the drawbacks associated with oral and IV drug administration techniques, as reported by CGTN.
"It’s akin to building a expressway for drug delivery," explained Professor Chang Lingqian from Beihang University’s School of Biological and Medical Engineering. He further noted, “The research has already found applications in medical aesthetics and healing skin injuries. It also shows significant potential for addressing critical health problems such as cancer and severe traumas.”
By integrating flexible electronics and nano-pore tech, this patch softly punctures cell walls using an extremely strong electrical field. This enables drug molecules—especially those with larger structures—to precisely infiltrate specific tissue areas.
The gadget operates without wires and is as slim as a piece of paper, rendering it both inconspicuous and efficient.
