2026 Hyundai Elexio: Korea's Giant Set to Square Off Against China’s Electric Car Invasion

At a launch event in Shanghai, the Elexio was presented to the public. It will go into production later this year at the facility run by Beijing Hyundai, which is part of a partnership with the government-controlled automaker BAIC. The sales are anticipated to start in Q3 of 2025.

It remains unclear whether Hyundai intends to introduce the Elexio to markets beyond China.

So far, no pictures of the inside have surfaced, but Hyundai mentions it will feature a curved dashboard layout. The vehicle’s infotainment setup will utilize a Qualcomm 8295P chip for enhanced performance, enabling functions like internet-based mapping and media choices, cloud software upgrades, voice controls, as well as remote access capabilities.

To minimize air resistance, the car features retractable flush-mounted door handles, discreetly concealed windshield wipers at both ends, and a grill-less frontal panel. On the sides, the darkened pillars and sloping window lines create a helmet visor-like aesthetic.

In terms of size, the Elexio appears to sit between the Ioniq 5 and the larger seven-seater Ioniq 9 electric SUVs.
