$135 Million North Adelaide Pool on the Verge of Completion

The soon-to-be-completed $135 million aquatic center in North Adelaide, set to launch early next year, is almost finished, with YMCA Aquatic chosen as the managing operator.

The center strives to offer a contemporary swimming environment while maintaining a link to the nearby parklands.

The YMCA Aquatic Centre tackles the challenge of securing its financial sustainability, marking a shift from its predecessor’s financially troubled operations.

"The aim is for the community to sense they belong here at our venue; we understand that charging too much would prevent that from happening. We're committed to finding a middle ground between cost and accessibility," stated spokesperson Adam Luscombe.

The facility features a ten-lane indoor pool equipped for both competitive swimming and leisure activities.

An outdoor pool, a feature that's been missing since the 1980s, is also under construction, complete with community barbecue areas.

The centre is expected to generate approximately 300 jobs, with priority given to former staff of the previous North Adelaide pool.
